The conference on "The Roles of Stable Isotopes in Water Cycle Research" is being held March 29-31, 2011 at the Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado. The goal of this meeting is to review recent advances in the use of stable isotopes as a means to inform and deepen our understanding of ecological, hydrological and atmospheric processes impacting the water cycle (see Scope). The Keystone resort is located 90 miles west of Denver in White River National Forest in the heart of Colorado's Rocky Mountains (see Travel & Accommodations).

The meeting is open to all interested in the role of stable isotopes in water cycle research. There will be a series of talks and poster sessions covering all aspects of water cycle research involving stable isotopes, from modeling to remote sensing and methods of stable isotope analysis.  Student participation is strongly encouraged.  We seek interdisciplinary participation from a wide range of fields relevant to the topic in order to stimulate dialog and "cross-pollination" between disciplines as we discuss commonalities in the use of stable isotopes in ecology, hydrology and atmospheric science.

The conference is being organized by the Biogeosphere-Atmosphere Stable Isotope Network (BASIN), a research coordination network funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The meeting is also made possible by support from the National Ecological Observatory Network
